# MO Museum - Cultural History of Lithuania (mmcentras.lt)

> mmcentras.lt is the legacy website of the MO Museum in Vilnius, Lithuania (formerly the Contemporary Art Centre / Modernaus meno centras, MMC). It now hosts "Kultūros istorija" / "Cultural History" - a bilingual (Lithuanian / English) online resource of expert essays on the history of Lithuanian culture from the mid-20th century onward, organised by cultural field, then by chronological period, then by individual illustrated essay with authors, sources and recommended reading. The museum's current main website is https://mo.lt and its art collection is at https://kolekcija.mo.lt.

How to interpret this site:

- Content is HTML only (there are no Markdown versions of pages).
- Bilingual: Lithuanian pages live under `/kulturos-istorija/...`, English under `/cultural-history/...`. An item's English URL uses the same numeric id + 70000 (e.g. Architecture is id 226 in Lithuanian and 70226 in English).
- URLs resolve on the trailing numeric id; the words before it are a human-readable slug and can be ignored.
- The site is largely archival. The homepage redirects to the Cultural History section, and individual artist/author pages now redirect to the museum collection at https://kolekcija.mo.lt.
- Content spans 11 cultural fields. Each field opens onto chronological periods (e.g. the Stalinist period, the late Soviet era, post-independence), and each period contains essays.
